ClassesPlease.com

Shannen Doherty's keepin' it classy with this URL!

ThereAreWorseThingsThanCornSyrup.com

Peter Askew snagged this one off Saturday Night Live. Beyond being funny, the URL display is, well, sticky.

Cheetos.com

Talk about bold. Cheetos dares to assume that its orange sticks that look like shriveled pretzels are so ubiquitous that they can be used interchangably with the brand name. Reminds me of NBC's ambiguous Peacock.com. Thanks to Brian Leiberman for sending this one in and making my hands feel sticky just looking at it.

LasikPlus2020.com

Here's a nice clean URL with Camel Case and a unique tracking code to measure conversions. You don't need lasik to read this one clearly!

GRAMMYINTHESCHOOLS.COM

I've been a little delinquent in checking the Good URL Bad URL mailbag but Brian Leiberman has been consistently loading it up. I still have a bunch to get to but wanted to post this one he potted tonight on the Grammys. Despite the ALLCAPS and Spacing Issues, this URL is relatively easy to read. *Channeling Joan Rivers and the URL Fashion Police* This URL is a best-dressed nominee!

www.exercisetv.tv./fitness360

What is it with Ex-er-cise-tv-dot-tv? Not only is it a Bad URL but it has no concept of how to display itself. Not what you'd expect from a franchise devoted to improving one's appearance. Here, they not only present a mess of alllowercase preceded by Dubs and followed by a slash but theres an extra dot thrown in for good measure that makes this not even a functioning URL. Dot's not very nice.

officedeskandchairexperts.com

Here's one from our good friend and Duke of URL, Aaron Bynum. In his words...

"Attached here is a screenshot from a local (Champaign, IL) TV commercial by a furniture business.

I'm a bit stumped as to why they plaster the URL 'officedeskandchairexperts.com' in the TV commercial, when the URL is just a redirect to 'IllniSupply.com'... it seems like a wasted effort."

As I mentioned in my reply to Aaron, while this URL is great for SEO purposes, it doesn't quite roll off the tongue... or casters.

And the alllowercase is doing them no favors. Anytime I see a lower case URL with experts in it, I always think of expertsexchange.com.

When promoting their website, this URL should be desk-arded.

FreeMaxClarityOffer.com

This one I nabbed myself off the boob tube. Great trackable URL for DR TV. And nice use of alternating fonts and Leading Caps to make this URL quite legible. They really max out their placement here, bringing clarity to the URL. Not much free advice I can offer them.

5hourenergy.com

Bad URL

Don't mind the lower-case "h" following the 5 becase "5Hour" might not have lined up right but can't forgive the lower-case "e." You may think I'm just being a stickler here and that anyone can figure out the URL because it's the brand name but the brand name has a hyphen so people already have to think a little to figure out if there's a hyphen in the URL. You don't want to make people think any more than they have to. These guys should've taken their own, er... medicine and used some uppers.

tryarmandhammer.com

Bad URL

Weird smattering of letters here. Takes an arm and a leg to read it. Especially with the tall "d" and "h" lines. Could've really hammered it home with some Leading Caps.

uti.edu

Here's another from Bob Kahns. In the understatement of the year, he points out that UTI "certainly has other meanings for some." Let's just hope he doesn't know from experience! (Sorry, Bob... don't get pissed at me!)

minuterice.com/readytoserve

First time URL-spotter William Alvarez served up this one. Why do marketers insist on alllowercase and /slashes?!? If they used a subdomain and peppered in some Leading Caps, this URL would really stick, you know... like white on rice!

zendough.com

Bob Kahns checks in with his 5th URL-spotting to date (and I see the GUBU mailbox has quite a few more from him lying in wait). Bob points out the lack of Leading Caps but what he "found most offensive was the redundancy of placing the URL in the top header of the commercial at the left, and then typing the URL into an imaginary search box? address bar? Not even 100% sure on that!" Indeed, this is more of a Zen doh moment!

LivingwithChronsDisease.com, LIVINGwithCHRONSDISEASE.com

Good URL, Bad URL

Bob Kahns checks in with another URL-spotting here -- his 4th to-date. This also happens to be the 4th URL to-date we've seen featuring 2 of the same URLs in the same TV ad. They got it right at the topic with Leading Caps and alternating fonts but then inexplicably MASHEDUPsomeCAPSwithlowercase in the bottom. It's bad enough people have to live with Chron's disease, they shouldn't have to deal with inflammation of the URL too.

HondaofPortRichey.com

Good URL

Here's another submission from Bob Kahns. He just has a way with words, so I'll let him take it away... "With no w's, leading caps as well as alternating colors, I'd say this URL's got a 'motor in the back of that Honda' (in my best Sir-Mix-a-Lot impression)!" Baby URL got back, indeed.

The Road to TampaBay .com

Good URL

Peter Askew and I had a difference of opinion on this one. He thought the spaces made it look like they're promoting TampaBay.com but I think it's pretty obvious the URL is TheRoadToTampaBay.com, especially considering the context of the TV commercial. And, for as big an URLaholic as Mr. Askew is with 38 submissions to date, I still trump him with 407 total posts so that makes me head-geek-in-charge. So we're gonna go with good URL and get this show back on the road.

washingtondcbmw.com

Bad URL

Here's an URL spotted by the mysterious "belieber." Too many Acronyms/Abbreviations going on here. Some Leading Caps and BMW would be the ultimate URLing machine.

itunes .com/tv/the office

Bad URL
Peter Askew was on the ball with camera at the ready when this ill-fated URL appeared. Not sure what they were going for with the spacing. And putting everything after the root domain in orange only emphasizes what a clusterfreak it is. This URL has Michael Scott written all over it.

StartHealthyStayHealthy.com

Good URL

Here's another SkewURL. Nice slogan integration and Leading Caps aid in readability. My only problem with it is that some may read this quickly has StartHealthyStartHealthy.com or StayHealthyStayHealthy.com. Alternating Fonts would've gone a long way here. Otherwise, this URL is smooth as a baby's butt!

ESPNCHICAGO.COM

Good URL

Mr. Askew checks in again with this sporty URL. Nice integration of the ESPN logo and local customization, although methinks the "Log on to..." call to action is a bit dated. All in all, this URL's got its game-face on.
